BACP - certificate of proficiency

Hi,

If I completed a masters in integrative counselling and psychotherapy (not accredited by bacp).

I am aware I need a bacp accreditation - is the certificate of proficiency recognised by employers?

BACP have advised on their website that once the CoP assessment is passed I will be put on the BACP register.

Will potential employers recognise this?

My concern is to make the right choices and commit to an action plan of becoming a psychotherapist. All the courses are not cheap and I do not want to end up in debt with no job prospects.

Thank you.

Hi hka32

I think the CoP validates your training and the employers are able to confirm with the BACP registry.

If you don’t mind me asking, from which institution is the masters you would like to pursue?

NB-it’s also important to have the recommended training hours, placement hours and personal therapy hours for the level of training you have undertaken.
