Worried as hell results

Hi so I am going into 5th year next year and received my national 5 results yesterday. I haven’t been any more distraught and stressed in my whole life as I received 4 As of which none were band 1 2 Bs and 2 Cs with a C being in English. I have displayed early signs of intelligence from a young age and have always wanted to go to imperial to do medicine and last night just spent an hour and a half of my time listening to my parents talking absolute crap about me while I was shaking and now I realise that my life is over and that my dad used to take me to the imperial campus when I was younger and had imperial t shirts so it is my dream to study there for medicine and possibly UCL but I got a C in English as I accidentally plagiarised the folio so someone please please help me as I am going to the toilet with very loose stools as I just can’t stop stressing so is my dream to study medicine at Imperial over please please help me my mum was crying too and all my friends got 8 As and I didn’t sorry for the lack of grammar as I am so so worried but please help me I need to go to imperial otherwise it’s over.

It’s only because I did really badly on the assignments for some reason and I just feel as if my life is over. I can’t even do the easiest tasks. My dad gave me a 3 hour lecture and just sounded so disappointed in me and grilled me throughout it. I just feel so down and have lost 5kg in weight.

My friend, you still have S5 and S6 to complete!

In Scotland, universities tend to care more about your Higher results rather than your National 5 results.
If you're trying to get into an English uni (which you are as you say), then you want to complete your Advanced Highers.
You can view the entry requirements for your course and they will tell you which qualifications you need.

I know many people who haven't gotten the greatest grades for National 5 but have managed to do well on their Higher exams which allowed them to get into their chosen courses at prestigious unis such as St. Andrews and Edinburgh.

If I were you, I would gather your thoughts and think about what you're going to do for S5. Plan out your chosen subjects and lock in. Get some work experience (help out at pharmacies, etc). I'm not sure how you can plagiarise a folio accidentally but don't do it again. Don't overestimate yourself because these exams don't care whether you displayed "early signs of intelligence" or not. Most importantly, don't get too bothered by these results. It is all in the past now. You have to focus on what's next or else you will fall even further behind.

Congratulations on the 4 As!

Please can you at least tell me if I can still get into imperial or not with that English grade as I’m so scared that I can’t even meet the bloody national 5 requirements so can I still apply?

And I accidentally copy and pasted massive chunks from my sources as they are YOUR sources and I thought that plagiarism meant copying things from someone else’s essay or other sources you didn’t choose but please please tell me if I can still go to Imperial please

Why wouldn't you be able to go? Here is what Imperial will typically ask for at Scottish qualifications:

"United Kingdom
Scottish Advanced Highers
Standard offers between AAA and A1,A1,A: please see individual programmes for specific requirements."

For medicine:

"Our minimum entry standard is AAA overall, to include:

A in Biology

A in Chemistry

A in a third subject"

Just tell me if I have met the English requirements and that I can still go because you need National 5 English and maths at a certain
Level for all medical schools so just tell me now ok?

Hi, I am really sorry to burst your bubble right now and I completely understand what you’re going through. But I have some really bad news, which is that with the C in English, you will automatically be rejected from Medicine at Imperial. What is more, for all of their courses, a B in National 5 English is required. So it’s not looking like it I’m afraid, and for UCL too, as they don’t accept resits for medicine. Sorry 🫤🤷*♂️

Even with the best grades in the world there is no guarantee you will get into UCL so you still need a back up option. Concentrate on your highers, be more careful with your folios, attend supported study classes and easter revision and if you can afford it, ask your parents about tutors. You could try appealing your grades if it upsets you so much.

I understand that you have a dream (Imperial) however there is more to life than this. If your goal is to be a doctor then you shouldn’t worry as long as you plan to save lives. All UK med schools are the same, as the same MBBS degree is obtained. Your results are great, and other good medical schools will accept this. I do not recommend basing your whole life off of Imperial, if anything that place is depressing. On the long run worrying about things like this ruins your mental health and leads to burnout. Everything happens for a reason, and it will work out.

You’re not addressing the fact that OP will be automatically rejected from Imperial and UCL as they have not met the English requirements in the first sitting- why is nobody talking about that?
I'm not sure what to the system is in Scotland but can you maybe retake your English exam... Plus I just checked... They have an entire section about English language requirements and it doesn't say anything about a grade... All you have to do is either take a test which they prepare or take a pre-session thing (at least that's what I understood) and there was another thing but I didn't really understand it.
So no, your dream isn't over and you can still go for it but again I can't stress enough how important it is to have back up options which you know you can attain. At least then you won't be completely lost and you never know what might happen.

Imperial does not accept resits for Medicine.
This is from the Imperial website: “All applicants must meet our higher level English language requirement.”
And, if you look further, the requirement is a B at National 5 English. I’m sorry OP, but you can’t go to Imperial. End of.
