Year 12 forum 2024-2025

As far as I know, there isn't a chat for our year yet, so here's one!

Next year, I'm hopefully doing DT, Geography, Biology and Chemistry, so I can answer questions on those, but otherwise we can just chat and answer all questions that u guys put on this forum!

Please no hate or judgement, just friendly advice and support - this transition year is important and can be quite stressful when we start new schools!

I wouldn't advise doing DT alevel unless you had a really good teacher at gcse and theyre still going to be teaching you. I decided to move schools and chose dt and its probably the worst department in the entire sixth form. Alevel DT has very high grade boundaries and its tricky to get high marks if your teachers don't give much guidance. Its a fun subject but lowkey not worth the stress, if i could I would drop it for any other subject tbh

Hi.
Next year I am hopefully doing Geography (AQA), History (Pearson Edexcel) and Sociology (AQA).

I am going to my secondary school's sixth form so I have the same teachers for Geography and History. Sociology is only offered as an A-level and is taught by an English teacher who I didn't have for English GCSE.
@AnnoyinHuman what are the exam boards for your A-levels?
Tagging in others that I know on TSR in our year.

Hi all, same school for me which is nice. I’m doing:

Maths and FM (OCR B)
History (OCR A)
Chemistry (Edexcel)
Economics (Edexcel)

Good luck to everyone on results day too!
Also hoping to stay at the same school and study Biology, Maths and Physics (all OCR) and possibly an EPQ.
How’s everyone feeling about starting year 12? Personally Im very nervous but also excited that I dont have to do English or Politics anymore!

I'm looking forward to dropping English,Maths and PE.
I am also looking forward to deepening my knowledge in my chosen subjects.
Finally, I am looking forward to the disruptive and loud students not being in lessons anymore.
In September, we will also have iPads to use for school work.

Honestly I think I’ll prefer the breadth of learning that GCSEs provide over the depth of learning at A-Level. Still looking forward to not having to do English, Physics and Languages ever again.

YES! No more PE! I technically dropped it a few weeks into year 11 for reasons but it’s great to not have to do it any more, and also English… no more stupid Romeo and Juliet especially! Im taking Maths but I enjoy it so that’s alright.
I'm going to a new Sixth form, I'm really excited I'm doing Maths/Further maths/Economics Edexcel and Philosophy AQA and EPQ?? still unsure if my school will allow it but I really want to do it. I feel prepared but I'm a bit nervous I really want 5 A*s

Im doing DT (OCR) - Ik that people are skeptical of it, but I love it and keep the same amazing teachers, there's only 4 in our class, so it's like 1-1. Also Biology OCR, Chemistry Edexcel and Geography OCR. I am also doing DELF B2 French, but no-one seems to have heard of it! 😂 (French language qualification needed to study/work in France)

I was a bit worried at the same thing, but thinking about it now, it would probably b fine to drop one if u find it too stressful - I probs won't cos I'll think 'what was the point of doing the first year then?' but Ik other ppl find it easy to drop that, so don't worry!

Heyyy
thank you @Adam Woodbridge for tagging me
I’m going to move from my all girls school to an all boys school (mixed sixth form) so that will be interesting. I’m planning on taking biology, chemistry, geography and maths but I might drop maths maybe and I might to an EPQ I’m not sure yet.

Btw this thread might be closed for a bit bc last year our year 11 thread was closed until results day bc the year above us still had their thread

This is a list of free food on results day btw xx
