I dont know what to do

I'm going to prom in september, i already have a dress and the first time i tried it on it was very loose on me, i recently tried it on again and it fits. This bothers me because i know i've gained weight, i have been struggling with my eating for a very long time, but i started developing some medical problems which lead to my parents having to monitor me and make sure i eat. I never got the full professional help and i dont have access to it. But trying on that dress just made something so wrong again, i dont like anything about myself and nothing looks right, everything looks and feels wrong. I dont know what to do, I want to turn back to old habits.

Take a deep breath! I know this made you feel more self-conscious about yourself but try putting on a more positive mindset.

The dress fits perfectly on you now, and you can easily lose weight by diet control or any other methods…

You’re strong and beautiful, you can get through this!!
Hello, we are sorry to read about how trying on your dress has brought up some uncomfortable emotions and difficult thoughts about your body and weight. Living in a world which is heavily focused on weight it can be really difficult to navigate bodily changes and weight gain. We want to remind you that you are deserving of enjoying your prom in your here and now, just as you are. We encourage you to focus on the experience of connection with others at your prom and what your prom means to you, rather than what you look like. We also suggest reaching out to Beat https://www.beateatingdisorders.org.uk/get-information-and-support/ for support with your eating that you've described. Your parents may also find this resource helpful in supporting you with eating - https://newmaudsleycarers-kent.co.uk/new-maudsley-carers/ (if you choose to share it with them). If you are ever experiencing thoughts of suicide then please reach out to Hopeline247 on 0800 068 4141 or by Text on 88247 for advice and support from a trained Suicide Prevention Adviser. 💜
