Joining sports societies in late 20s?

Been offered a PhD at Durham, and would like to continue doing Muay Thai either at a local club or the sports soc. I'm not really interested in hanging out or clubbing with the UGs but it sounds like it'd be way more convienent travelwise.

Just wondering if anyone here has any experience of what Durham is like. At my old Uni there tended to be a couple of alumni that stuck around (at least in Swimming - though the facilities were far better than what you'd get outside of Uni) so I thouht i'd ask.

Cheers

Hiya,

Congratulations on your offer! Societies at Durham are filled with students from different ages/degree levels so don't feel discouraged about joining 🙂 Many even are members of the executive committee! Some societies do host socials (sometimes bar crawls, club nights, etc) but you can definitely join societies or participate in sports without having to attending but they do also have more relaxed chill events which are definitely worth going to! If you'd like to have a look through the different societies at Durham, you can visit the link below 🙂

I hope this helps
