First Interview

After a while of trying to get a job at Tesco, I have finally been successful. I applied this morning for a job at there phone shop, a few hours later I received a call for an interview. Despite my terrible confidence on phone speaking I believe I came across quite mature and polite. How should I prepare for an interview?

Do your due diligence and research the company, especially the phone shop branch of Tesco's and their goals, what they want to achieve etc. Try come up with why you can help achieve them. But really just prepare for basic questions like "Tell us about yourself", biggest strength/weakness etc. Maybe some situational questions like what would you do if Bossman walked in and got mad about his tariff etc. I'm assuming it's like a sales rep role being your first interview so, try be upbeat, positive and have good energy. I'm sure it'll go well, good luck

i have worked at tesco for 2 years and although not in the phone area, i have had many customers ask for advice with phones. i would imagine you need to be informed and informative, and evaluate different options based on the situation they present to you. you can say in your interview if you have elderly relatives you have helped them to make the best use out of their device, or you have had a phone contract yourself so you know how it works. i would definitely try link experiences in your interview to being educated, personal, helpful and up to date as I imagine this is what skills you’ll need🙂 message me if i can help anymore x

Don't panic to much not knowing anything about mobile phones as they will train you if successful in your interview.

All you need to do is your most upbeat best at the initial, answer the questions the best you can do and if you have any questions then you can ask them.

The person in reply 2 mentioned that as a Tesco staff meeting in the supermarket side of business you get customers asking about the mobile phones that some of the bigger Tesco stores sells which the staff don't know much about as this is normally better served with the Tesco mobile phones shop staff.

I have worked in Tesco for about 18 years and I don't think I could sell any customers in the store a mobile phone as don't have any experience in dealing with them.

Good luck with your interview 😀 😀 😀
