Bristol Uni course change

Hi

So I’m so stressed. I got an unconditional offer for Film and Theatre BA at the University of Bristol, and received ABB at A level in Psychology, Film and Theatre (I did apply through extenuating circumstances after some family deaths during college). I’ve realised that, nowadays, Politics would better suit my future career options. I’ve tried to change my course, but they’re on a Results day embargo until the 15th. After then, I can apply on the portal for a course change. However, I feel the need to explain myself a little and I am scared that they just won’t let me. Grade boundaries are AAA for politics, or AAB for politics and social policy. (Film and Theatre is also AAB and I got that?)

I know there’s no good answer here, but do people think I would be able to change course? I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t.

there is the national careers service who could be useful

Hi, just wondering if you managed to change?! I am in a really similar position - I have a place at Bristol for English which was AAA, I got ABB but now really want to change to politics too! Please let me know if this worked out for you, as I’m debating reapplying to different unis but I really want to go to Bristol!

Hey, sorry I’ve only just seen this! So yes starting 2025 and am not contextual. I went to the open day and asked and it’s not looking likely! But any info you have please let me know

Who did you ask at the Open Day?

In your position it would be best to contact Bristol's admissions team and get an official answer. It's probably best to do this by email as you'll get a response in writing. That said, the issue might be that ABB won't meet the admissions requirements for Politics if you're not entitled to a contextual offer.
