What universities need what maths admissions test

At this moment in time I believed that MAT was only for Oxford, STEP was only for Cambridge and TMUA was for everywhere else. But now I checked and it states that Warwick requires STEP. Can I use MAT and TMUA as substitution for the STEP as otherwise I will have to study for all three admissions test.

Which degree are you planning on applying for? If it's Maths at Warwick, they only require STEP if you have not done TMUA or met the required score threshold (which in previous years has been 6.5).

Pure Mathematics (3-4 year course) at Warwick, Oxford, Durham, St Andrews and York. I know MAT is for Oxford and TMUA is for most Russel groups, but idk about STEP. What does the 6.5 required mean? Is that for TMUA or a reduced offer if you haven’t met A-Level requirements.

If you've done MAT and/or TMUA, none of them will ask for STEP unless they believe that you haven't shown your true potential in your admissions test scores and so will challenge you to prove yourself to them.

Barring Warwick, I can't imagine any of them will give you a STEP requirement in their offers and even at Warwick, it's a very slim chance you will get a STEP requirement if you haven't already done an admissions test.

6.5 is indeed for TMUA. It's not if you haven't met A level requirements. When they give out offers, they look at your admissions test score to decide what sort of offer to give you. My friend got her Warwick offer this year and it was initially 3 A*s. However, she got 6.3 on TMUA and she got her offer reduced to A*A*A. She also got her offer from Durham reduced from A*A*A to A*AA because of this score.

Now, 6.5 is not the threshold for reduced offers every year because a general trend with TMUA (having done all of the papers when I was preparing) is that the papers are getting harder every year so that threshold for a reduced offer is decreasing.

Warwick does indeed accept both MAT and TMUA as alternatives to STEP for their mathematics courses. This is a positive development as it offers more flexibility for students.
While the information available suggests that MAT and TMUA are accepted, it's crucial to confirm this directly with the University of Warwick. Admissions requirements can change, and specific details might vary depending on the course you're applying for.
