For the med school it's a game of numbers. They have to get bang on their allocation for medicine. It will depend how many firm offer holders / insurance offer holders make their grades. If they have 2 spaces (ie 2 not made their grades) they will make different decisions than if they have 25.
They will have a process that they follow and it is likely to be different for each med school. So it's hard to say. It will depend on how an applicant does against their near miss criteria. So for example they might rank all their near miss applicants who were firm offer holders in interview score and work.their way down from the top. Or use UCAT or shoe size. It could be anything, although interview score is common.
So 3 people could miss their grades and only 1 get a place if there is a space left, or 2 get a place if there are two places left and they go off interview scores. Its hard to tell.
Your med school may well have something on their website about how they handle arrangements for near miss candidates or applications on confirmation.
I know it's hard, but you just have to hold your nerve a little bit longer. 🤞
