Clearing with bad grades

Hi,

Results day is coming up and im terrified. I was predicted A*A*A but i was struggling with my mental health during exams and so I'm 99% sure I ended up with EED.... maybe even a U. I've prepared myself about the chances of taking a gap year to retake my A-levels but is there any chance I could get into uni this year through clearing or ringing my firm choice?

I think I have a really strong application (great GCSEs, academic competition wins etc), so it's a shame that my end grades have been bad. Maybe, they can look at me holistically?

If you are rejected then ringing your Firm choice is totally pointless. They will have made their decision days ago and you are not going to change their mind. Its far too late to mention extenuating circumstances on Results Day ?- and if you do have MH issues, is going to a 'any Uni' via the mayhem of Clearing really the best idea?

If you do get bad grades - and hey, you may get much better results than you expect - then talk to your school/college about resits / reapplying. This gives you the best opportunity to get to a Uni that you actually want to go to, and to get your head in the best place to leave home / start Uni.
