Compensation

I failed 2 modules in my 2 year can I still claim compensation and PI
I passed the other 2 modules with a result of 47% and 42% and failed the other 2 modules with both 37%
Can I still progress to the final year im a accounting and finance student at uni of Greenwich

Were the four modules (two passed and two failed) all equally weighted - i.e. worth 30 credits each?

If so, the only one of them can be compensated as Greenwich only allow a maximum of 30 credits to be compensated each year. (See D5.11 in their Academic Regulations for Taught Awards from 2023-24.)

However, you are also allowed "trail" modules worth up to 30 credits per year. This is where you effectively carry the module forward to the next year, and study it again, alongside next year's modules. (See D8.14 of the same document.)

I don't know what "PI" refers to, so can't comment on that.

Yes there were all 30 credits , so it is possible I can still get compensated for one module I failed and trailing for another I failed and go on to 3rd , I got 47% 42% 37% 37% for the four modules

Also for one of the modules I failed I have received an Accepted EC Claim (impaired performance) due in the resit period for a component of the module I failed in the overall grade for the module was 37% . What will the possible outcomes be for myself bearing in mind compensation can’t be applied as it has already been

What do you mean by "compensation can’t be applied as it has already been"?

You say that you've had an extenuating circumstances claim accepted for an assessment in one of the modules you failed. Are you saying that compensated has already been applied to that module?

If that were the case, the whole module would be considered a compensated pass. Hence I'm not sure what you mean.

Can both trailing and compensation be applied in my case ?

I had initially thought that they could, but then I noticed this which is one of the criteria for compensation to be applied:

"• an average grade of the relevant pass mark has been achieved in all other modules which have been completed at the point at which the student is considered at a PAB."

(PAB is Progression and Award Board, by the way.)

That would suggest that compensation cannot be applied because you haven't passed "all other modules". :frown:

Hi there , I have achieved an average GRADE of 42% of in all other modules i got ( 47% 42% 37%) can compensated for at least one module still . Or does all other modules have to be 40% to receive a compensated pass

That's a good question, and I don't 100% know the answer.

I read the rule as saying that each other module (i.e. other than the module being compensated) needed to be a pass (40%), based upon an average of the different assessments for that module.

However, it may be saying that if you look at the other modules, some of which may be below 40%, the the average of those modules must be at least 40%.

You will need to talk to somebody within the university for clarification, I'm afraid.
