Advice: I like my best friend

We've been best friends for over 2 years now. She's the type who always listens to me and cares about everything I have to say.

A month ago, I was dating someone else. My best friend confessed that she likes me. I was a little shocked and confused but I eventually realised I might like her back. When I realised that, I realised it was the right thing to break up with my then girlfriend.

One night one thing led to another and my best friend and I slept together. We were both drunk. Eventually, we slept together even when we were sober... And it became a new normal.

I realised I liked her and I told her. She said she liked me too... But she likes me more like a best friend and less romantically. But she believes she might eventually like me more.

So here I am questioning everything i have done... And wondering if she will ever truly like me back? Is it terrible if I wait? I wonder if maybe she realises she likes me more than just friends. Am I just waiting for a heartbreak?

How do you feel, ditching your girlfriend for an FWB? Would you have stayed with your girlfriend otherwise? Then again, you managed to move on from her very quickly even though you had no interest in your friend until she said something.

Don't bother waiting for this friend to change her feelings, because it's likely you'll find someone else in the meantime
and move on again, until you develop your emotional maturity enough to understand what you are looking for in a partner.
