Chances for private sixth form with low predicted scores in non-chosen subjects

Hi,

I am currently in year 10 and have received my predicted scores. I have 9 and 8 in the subjects I plan to do in A levels (maths, further maths , physics and chem). Unfortunately, I have only 5 (Geography) and 6 in English, as predicted in the summer of the year 10 report. Will this impact my chances.
Can I still apply for private schools as I strongly believe I could get higher grade in the GCSE exam. Please advise.

Thanks.

yes for sure u can when applying for schools i dont think they really care abt ur year 10 mocks i was predicted 2s at year 10 and 9s at year 11 so they know it can change and they are not always accurate etc also they wont care at all abt getting a 5 in geography especially since ur not applying for geography a level just make sure u get a 6 in english lang it wont impact too much to do with sixth form but a lot of unis (if u want to go) dont allow u to apply even if u get 10 A stars if u dont have a 6 in english lang (i think) but for now ur completely fine so dont stress <3

Thanks a lot, it is reassuring. Will definitely focus on English. I was worried.

you definitely shouldn’t be even ur year 11 mocks don’t really matter at all so ur alr dw 😭 u seem really smart and hardworking I wish you good luck !
If you get an offer it will probably be subject to achieving a certain minimum grades in your actual GCSEs, so it's worth checking if you think you will meet these requirements at whichever schools you intend to apply to.

Thanks, I will look out for the grades in the actual GCSEs. But I was worried that they would decide by the year 10 mocks and unfortunately, I did not do well in the ones I am not choosing. Hence was worried.

I'm sure they have their selection criteria outlined on their website or something, just try and look for it...
