is it okay to have a non-european spanish accent for alevel spanish

hi i have an argentine accent when speaking spanish, will this be a problem for the a-level spanish? i obviously won't use any slang or voseo in the exam, and will use vosotros and tu over usted/es
thx xx
Hi there, you should be totally fine, I don't think there are marks assigned for having a "spanish" accent.

What was your IRP based on?

Did you do AQA? WJEC? Edexcel?

Did you prepare from past papers? 🙂

I was told it's easier to do my IRP on a film, so I did the theme of poverty in a spanish language film! (idk if im allowed to share my IRP title yet?? sorry 😭)
I did AQA and yeah I did every single past paper for paper 1, worked my way through a couple past questions for paper 2 (character/theme mind maps helped the most), and used indicative content from past speaking cards to gather information from each theme (and did my own research on things that interested me).
I got my worst themes for my photocard options in the A level and I hadn't prepared for them as much as the others, but as long as you have a couple key facts and statistics for each theme written down and remembered by heart you should be fine!

I have gathered both GCSE and A-Level Spanish past papers from January 2003 to June 2023 for AQA and June 2005 to June 2023 for Edexcel and OCR from when they used to offer Spanish?! 😀 lol As well as WJEC and IB questions.

I really want an A* and believe I can achieve it from practicing writing in Spanish and studying the mark schemes too. I know Edexcel examiners recommend practicing 2008 to 2018 papers as well as 2017 to 2023 papers?!

I just did the post-2016 papers but do as much as u can ofc! I also went through the papers and made flashcards of every word i didnt know - they repeat them a lot (rueda de prensa is used so much and it always used to trip me up).
I'd say also watch a lot of Spanish films/series with Spanish subtitles- even if you don't understand half of it, it helps so so much. Don't bother with English subtitles bc you'll find you focus on them too much and aren't actually learning
Some of my fav films/series are:
-Elite
-Los amantes del círculo polar
-María llena eres de gracia
-Abre los ojos
-La sociedad de la nieve

I don't think it matters at all because the course recognises all spanish speaking countries not just spain 🙂
