What should I study?

So I liked the idea of challenging workplace norms and behaviour in the workplace and was drawn to the field of organisational / industrial psychology but from what I can see it’s not very popular here in the UK and it’s hard to find a masters to study

Should I go with organisational psychology even if that means choosing a non Russell group university or should I go with something like HR , psychology or business instead?

(This is for postgraduate degree )

What is your end goal? If you find organisational psychology interesting, then go for it. However, if you have a particular role / job in mind, you need to think carefully about what skills and knowledge you need for that role. There is a very interesting person on my Insta feed who talks about the psychology of marketing. That could be an aim.

As for Russel Group vs non-Russel Group - it is a lie. A pure psychological marketing ploy to make some universities appear to be superior to others. They are not. Obviously if you only choose the best students, you get the best results. Does that mean the teaching or facilities are the best? It is like being surprised to find that only rich people buy Rolls Royces.

Go to the universities of your choice. Speak to the staff and tutors and look around the department. Then make your choice. I am doing a masters at MMU this year. I wouldn't touch Manchester Uni with a barge poll. They are too up their own backsides and their facilities are rubbish. Old quaint buildings are lovely to look at but awful to work / study in.

Good luck!
