Requesting transcripts for grad school?

If I want to apply to a university and they are requesting official transcripts for admission, how would I get this from BCU? The university site says only one official transcript can be in circulation at a time but some universities need an official transcript to be admitted. Does BCU offer a service like this where they can directly sent it to a further educations admissions team? Why is this not offered on gradintelligence if the certificate is already available there and able to be shared? The university being applied to needs to be able to see all the courses taken with marks received and any other typical transcript information so a verification letter or degree certificate wouldn't be suitable.

Hi @Chiok

I would suggest getting in touch with the BCU Admissions team. Below is the email address. If you send an email over explaining your situation, they should be able to help you out.

Email: [email protected]

Hope this helps. 🙂

Hi Emily, would they be the appropriate team to get in touch with if the graduate school I am applying to is in America?

Requesting your transcript from your uni is a standard process, for BCU (Birmingham City University) it appears to be outlined here: https://www.bcu.ac.uk/alumni/services/certificates-transcripts

I don't believe the BCU admissions team can help you with admission to another university so would suggest just using the link to their transcript services here rather than emailing the BCU admissions team.

Thanks for the link, I would think it's standard but it doesn't seem so straightforward with BCU as it says "please note we do not provide digital copies of your official transcript" and there can only be one official transcript in circulation at any one time. The link unfortunately is focused on provided a replacement in case of loss or theft and not providing the ability to send transcripts to another institution which is what I need.

You may just need to send a scan of the physical transcript in that case :frown:

Or fax it if they won't accept a scan otherwise (as old fashioned as that is now, it still remains as a method for sending a copy of an official document long distance electronically in a secure fashion!).

Hi @Chiok

I have enquired who is best for you to get in touch with at university, and the admissions team have been suggested. Without asking the team directly, I am unsure if they can assist with enquiries to schools overseas. But I would still recommend getting in touch with them to explain your situation.

Contact BCU student services and ask for a copy of your last official transcript after your last exam board, this should be possible.

Additionally if both are UK universities if you provide a signed letter they can probably use HEDD (google this) to transfer your academic performance to the new university.

Call ask if they can create a copy of the transcript then scan this and send the scanned copy via email before sending the official copy in the post.
