A level psychology

Hi I am considering doing psychology on top of chemistry biology and maths and epq. I’m doing the wjec exam board. Is it manageable to get four a stars if I choose psychology since I didn’t do it for gcse and don’t know what it is like.
Generally taking 4 a levels and an EPQ is not recommended as the year you take your EPQ the workload will be equivalent to taking 5 a levels. What is your motivation for wanting to take Psychology? If you want to see what you’ll be studying to see if its of interest to you id recommend looking for YouTube videos made my previous students and looking at the wjec spec. Hope this helps, have a great day

Hi, I did A level psychology and maths and it wasn’t too hard. Psychology is a LOT of content but if you keep up to date with revision resources you should be fine. Like making a quizlet for each topic.

I see thank you! Do you need to spend a lot of effort compared to other subjects for psychology? Because I watched a video saying that only a small part of each of the revised units come up

I’m thinking of studying medicine in hongkong unis and they require four a levels, plus I think epq is good to showcase research abilities therefore I chose further maths initially because the content is a further build up on maths and is more about the skills rather than content. However, im also considering psychology as one of the two medschools don’t consider further maths as an independent subject so i just ruled out the other a level choices and am thinking about psychology

I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing! In that case, if you think the course will be interesting for Psychology it sounds like an excellent option and will help you with some of the medicine content if you decide to choose modules relating to perhaps psychiatric care or maybe neurobiology could have an amount of crossover (going off what I’ve heard from others here). Best of luck with your studies!

Personally, not really. To revise I literally just went through all the online flashcards I made, sometimes even while watching a movie😅. But some topics are harder than others. For example I HATED biopsychology!

Oh hahahha and I looked at one of the past papers and I think the style of the paper is like gcse geography, do you think this is accurate? Or is it more like another essay based subject? Sorry for so many questions but it’s a really hard decision to make and I wanna make sure I am prepared for that xx thank you!

I didn’t do GCSE geography but the highest answer question they gave in AQA psychology was 16 markers I think for edexcel it’s 20! And this year there was I think 6, 16 markers spread across the 3 papers!

I would not say it is a completely essay based subject though like English, there are some shorter answer questions like 1,2,3,4,5,6,8 markers. And don’t worry I’m happy to answer any questions
