Ucas Clearing Courses differs from uni clearing courses

Hi,

I checked on websites of universities and the courses which are mentioned to be in clearing on their websites is not mentioned on the UCAS clearing website. For example, there isn't a mention of York Computer Science being in clearing in the UCAS website but on the uni page it mentions that it is in clearing. How does this happen?

They may not have updated it yet. We're in the embargo period now and so universities won't know what space they have until much much closer to results day. Check back on the website on Wednesday Night or Thursday morning.

Oh I see thank you, what is the embargo period though?

The embargo period is when Universities and UCAS get exam results early so that on results day people know what university they will be going to. Because of this, they CANNOT communicate with applicants during this period, to ensure that the confidentiality of the results is not broken.
Just out of interest, if an offer is AAA for cs at queen mary but u get A*AB say A* in maths, would u get a place or not? Can someone like email them or tell me if they know cos im scared to email them in a way.

No one is going to email them on your behalf.
The short answer is that they might still accept you, but they’re not obliged to because you would not have met the offer in full. They’d only know once they processed all of this years AL results.

how can you see York clearing vacancies?

Good morning, @mskr710

Wishing you the best of luck today on results day! And a huge congratulations if you have already picked up your results!😄

In regards to clearing vacancies, my best advice is to search the university e.g. York, followed by clearing, and the website should pop up and the clearing number should be on the website. I would get into contact with them via their clearing hotline as soon as possible to see if the course you are after has any clearing spaces.

Best of luck with results day and wishing you an exciting start to university! 😄

Hi @mskr710

The most accurate way to know what clearing vacancies a university may have to offer is to search the universities directly. There are also specialised Clearing Helplines open and available for you at certain universities to call for any further enquires and support in applying for a clearing opportunity.

Here is the link to our vacancies through Clearing if you are interested in exploring what options are available to you: Clearing Vacancies - Swansea University

Best wishes,
