Missed my conditions

Hi, I had an offer from the university of edinburgh and my conditions were ABB but i received ACC. I had a few issues going on during the time i was studying so i didn’t manage to get the grades i needed. I phoned them up and they’re not doing clearing for my course, is there any way that i could persuade them to still let me in? or if i explain my situation? any help would be appreciated
Have they made a decision on UCAS or are they waiting until AL results day?

Edinburgh is a very popular uni and so they will have lots of students who have achieved their grades. Its unlikely they will change their mind

If your circumstances during your exams were serious, I’d recommend checking whether Edinburgh have any way to submit mitigating circumstances. It’d help if it comes from someone at your school/college. You must submit any additional info before AL results day.

You will probably have to wait until A-level results day now, but pragmatically probably not. University admissions is not a qualitative thing where a really sweet phone call can make the difference, admissions is typically based on objective information so they can treat all applicants using a meritocratic approach (edit: that said if you have valid extenuating circumstances you should notify the university and see if this affects things).

There is no harm calling on results day incase the situation changes after they receive & process A-level results however I would strongly recommend making some contingency plans as if they have already declined your place it’s unlikely to change.

Sorry this is probably not what you want to hear but hopefully you can find a great alternative you’re equally excited about.
