Clearing

I’ve just finished my first year at uni and due to personal reasons I’m changing to a different course at a different uni this September. However I currently don’t have a ucas application. Can I go through clearing without one?

If your new university agrees to admit you using an RPA then yes. However only a minority of universities will agree to this.

It doesn’t take long to set up a UCAS application.
Set one up in advance just in case to save time - you can fill in everything without submitting it.

Ok thank you! Will I need to pay the fee again to submit it? Or is that only for applications in January?

Ok thank you so much!

What’s an RPA exactly I’ve never heard of that before?

If I want to transfer to a different course at the same uni I’m currently at do I need to use clearing?

An RPA is a way for a university to submit a single application to UCAS on your behalf. They aren’t encouraged as they severely limit applicant choice.

For internal transfers you need to read your student handbook

Ah I see.

Ok thank you so much!

Will I need a reference when I’m applying on ucas for clearing and will I need to pay a fee?

Ideally you would have a reference but many universities will be flexible about that in clearing (some won't be so it depends on the universities you're interested in). If you're collecting results tomorrow from a school/college they'll often be able to add a reference then and there to help you.

And yes to use clearing you need to pay a fee to submit your UCAS application
