Urgent Help!!!!

Hi!! I am an incoming U.S. student at the University of Edinburgh. I apologize if this was a stupid assumption but when I applied through UCAS last fall, I omitted one AP score since it was not relevant to my subject (I fulfilled the requirements with all my other ones). I saw a post saying that this might get my offer revoked!! I have no idea what to do and I am terrified- I did not mean to deliberately withhold information- I just thought the process was similar to Common App where you can report whichever scores you’d like, and I didn’t think this one score was relevant information. Please help!!!

Have you contacted Edinburgh to explain this?
Genuine mistakes aren’t likely to be a problem if you notify them as soon as you realise. It’s wilful deception that is considered harshly.

I haven’t yet- I just realized it was an issue. Do you think it’s too late to reach out and apologize?

It’s never too late and if they reassure you in writing that it’s fine then you don’t have to worry anymore

Hey, call 01316671971 tomorrow after 10am (Edinburgh time) and they will help. Be quick though because A Levels will be released on the 15th and it'll be chaos.

Universities are under embargo processing results now. It’s not worth ringing the admissions team for anything as they will likely refuse to talk to applicants during embargo.

OP needs to email admissions and ideally copy in the international team.

Hi! Thank you so much. Which department will this number connect me to?

Undergraduate admissions. Be very clear with them, tell them the issue, and propose a solution. Be like:
“Hey I’m …, I’m an International Student, I made my offer but on a second look one of the APs is missing from the list on UCAS. May I give you my student or UCAS number?” Give it to them. “Is there an email address where I may send an explanation to what happened, so you could attach it to my application when reviewed?
They’ll likely give you an email address, send it, and then call back in, tell them about the call you had earlier that day, give them your s or UCAS number and ask them to attach the email to your file, and to flag the application.
I hope you get in, and let me know how it goes!
What will you be studying?

I have already firmed an offer, I am scheduled to start on September 16th. I’m just awaiting clearance checks and I’m worried they might revoke my offer. Do you think it’s too late to reach out about it? I genuinely just realized.

I literally just fixed my situation this week, so I don’t think it’s too late, and they confirmed my spot on Friday. I start on the 1st, so you have a little more time, but once they have all the info they need I think these applications go in a queue to get reviewed and then they’ll update UCAS.
They are currently in this embargo as PQ mentioned above and I believe it ends at 8am on the 15th meaning you probably won’t get the confirmation until then anyway.
But does the College Board send your results straight to UCAS, or did you have to upload a transcript to the MyEd?

The College Board sent my scores directly to the university, they should arrive on Monday or Tuesday. I’m relieved to know that you have gone through something similar and it has worked out for you though. I’ll try calling the number tomorrow, and hopefully it’ll be ok. What are you studying?

Speaking as someone working in undergraduate admissions this week: we don’t want applicants phoning during the embargo period.

Yeah this is probably true. I tried calling the number this morning, and asked my question, and the man over the phone said “one second” and then hung up on me after about 10 seconds. I tried calling back and this time the call wasn’t going through. Should I just wait until the embargo period is over, or send an email now?

Thank you. I sent an email to the international team and they replied almost immediately- they said it should probably be ok. However, I have a new worry. The score that I didn’t report was in an irrelevant subject but was lower than my other scores (all 5s) and didn’t get me AP credit. Will this negatively affect my application or do they only look at the highest scores?

Hi there,

I would reach out to the university and explain the situation and then provide them with the information that they are asking for.

Try not to worry too much everyone is here to support you, if you have any more questions please don't hesitate to drop them below.

I hope this helps,

I’ve emailed the international recruitment team and they told me they notified head of admissions. I’m just wondering if my offer could be revoked if the AP score I didn’t report is lower than the rest, even though it wasn’t relevant to the course.

It would surprise me if they did.
Technically they can, but I doubt they would.
