What I do for revision timetables is make a list of topics from the spec and than rank them depending on how easy or difficult I find them. Then I select one or 2 topics for each subject to focus on that week

oh that's a good idea! so in terms of time-blocking in the actual revision timetable do you just allocate the same time slot for a specific subject every week but then change the topic you want to study depending on how you're finding each topic every week?

Reply 131

Yeah I find that time-blocking works, then you just switch topics each week.

Don't worry if you find you need to move your slots around for the first couple of weeks to fit other stuff in (im still trying to figure out mine lol) but I think in the long-run it's easier to build a habit out of revision if you know you're going to do it on a set day, place and time

So what I've done is I've got three subjects (maths, English and geography). For maths I've put in a question on a different topic per day and a past paper every two weeks. For geography I've made a document where I've created a table and inputted everything I need to know from each topic using the syllabus and in my timetable I've just put 'Mass movement' for example and then I'll tick off stuff I've done and know. I also do a past paper every two weeks. English I have coursework coming up so I put that in, as well as revising poems and books however I have not properly planned my sessions as well as I have with geography.

If you need clarification with anything, please ask, I know this is badly worded lol!

No this is so helpful thank you! Do you include time for stuff like homework in those time slots or do you time block your revision and your homework separately?

No but I tend to do homework during my school time and try do revision outside of school time however sometimes that swaps depending on the chaos that is my life. My revision timetable is also pretty loose at the moment, I've started revising but I'm not doing much and I'm also being pretty relaxed about moving sessions etc as I get used to it. I don't get revision very often and it's getting more and more rare now then it was last year so I don't find much of a point in blocking homework if I end up with nothing to do if that makes sense
