Appointment at clinic for contraceptive pill

Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone could share their experience of going to a sexual clinic/family planning clinic to get first time contraception in pill form.

What do they usually ask? I know that I’ll be weighed and my blood pressure will be taken etc.

I also, suffer with a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome, is it worth mentioning this? As this condition gives me heavier periods etc and is part of the reason why I want to go on the pill, as well as me having a boyfriend.

Also, I’m a virgin (haven’t had penetrative sex) and some of my friends have told me if I say that I’m not sexually active the nurse is less likely to give me pill contraception, which I think that isn’t true.

So should I tell them I’m a virgin that plans to be sexually active soon or when they ask if I’m sexually active do I just lie and say yes? As I have done other things just not penetrative sex.

They will ask about your medical history and prescribe the best option. It is wise to enquire about contraception before being sexually active, so no problem whatsoever telling them this. Remember this is all completely routine for the staff there so nothing to be worried or embarrassed about
