Resits?

Hi, im a little unclear on universities stances on people who have sat an a level in 1 year (year 12) and are now resitting it in their 2nd year of sixth form (year 13), I know unis prefer it if their candidates sit their a levels over a 2 year period so would this be okay or would a med school only count the 1st result achieved in year 12.

There are 2 conditions which somehow you have merged into one. One is resit in which you give the same subject twice in 2 different exam sessions. If you have given the entire of A level syllabus is year 12 (linear A level) then that's attempt one. If you give exam again then that's resit. Some universities don't consider resits in this case they will only consider the year 12 exam results. Other universities will consider the resit results and ignore the first one even if the second attempt is worse than the first.

Second thing is universities preferring the 2 year period for A level. Some universities would want you to do atleast 3 A levels in your final year. So if you have already given one at the end of Y12 they would still want you to do atleast three.

If you are giving one resit and 2 other A levels then technically you are giving 3 A levels so should be fine for the universities which want minimum 3 A levels
