Anyone been to Barcelona recently?

So in about two weeks I’ll be going to Barcelona as a ‘finishing/hopefully passing my GCSEs’ holiday treat.

However what I’m really getting annoyed at is the fact that my mom is paranoid that we are going to be robbed everywhere we go because Barcelona is quite known for pickpockets. She even that paranoid when telling me I can’t even bring my devices to use because I shouldn’t leave anything in the hotel room or having any belongings on me which annoyed me a lot (I’m still bringing my phone and etc tho)

We’re only going for 4 nights and coming from Birmingham,UK I think we will be ok as long as you have some common sense being in an European city.

Has anyone else been to Barcelona recently and how have you found it?

I was in Barcelona last summer and didn't have any issues with pickpocketing. I'd still bring my phone and other essentials, just be mindful of keeping them close and not leaving bags unattended. Maybe get a small daypack or money belt to safely carry important things. Your mom is right to be a bit cautious, but 4 days there is very doable without worrying excessively in my view. You might even consider getting a guide to feel safe. https://gowithguide.com/spain/barcelona you can check them out if you want. Also check out their official tourism website for more information https://www.spain.info/en/destination/barcelona/

Barcelona is like any big and busy city and of course you need to be cautious as there are pickpockets in all cities. Just take the usual precautions and leave any valuables in the hotel safe. 4 days will fly by . Is this the first time you are goign by yourself and perhaps that is why your mum is worried?

Barcelona is quite dodgy and has a terrible reputation for muggings. The architecture is nice. It’s safer to go around the city on a tourist bus rather than walk as there’s so many pickpockets and muggers. The people can often be quite rude and impatient to tourists.

I don't think Barcelona is more dangerous as any other city full of tourists. I agree with the advice given above.
I haven't been to Barcelona, but my friend was there several months ago and didn't face any issues.

I've been to Barcelona a number of times & really enjoy it- I've never had any trouble there so I wouldn't say it's any worse than most big cities. The area around La Ramblas has a reputation for pickpockets etc though so just be aware & take any precautions you normally would.

i havent been to barcelona but my friends have, but i thought there was some kind of ‘anti-tourist’ protests going on there atm? i’m not sure how prominent they are but it’s just something to keep in mind when travelling there.
