Appeal email for university decisions on A-level results

Hi everyone, I am getting anxious with results coming in on the 13th and losing confidence hour by hour. Can anyone guide me on what and how to write to universities to appeal if my results are lower than the conditional offer or have a sample for this? I've heard that some unis are quite lenient on this, some or not.

Do you have any mitigating circumstances that affected your exams?

Remember - just because you didn't reach your offer grades, the Uni rejected you, and you don't like that decision, is not grounds for an appeal.

Unless you have evidence that the Uni has made the wrong decision - ie. they didn't have all of your results when they made it - you have no grounds for appeal.

I don't think they'll reconsider unless there is evidence to suggest their choice was a mistake.

Just because your grades are lower doesn't mean that you can't still get into a uni course. Your firm/insurance may offer a place on another course that you have the grades for, or you can enter via clearing (other universities may have the same course with other lower requirements)

Hope this helps:smile:

Hi, as stated, a university can consider taking you without the offer conditions having been met, but if they choose not to do so, there's no right to appeal. You haven't met the conditions so you haven't met your side of the bargain.

If you've met your insurance offer conditions, you would instead get accepted there. But this is a reminder as well to make sure you do a bit of thinking about what plan B would be if you don't get either your firm or insurance, so that you're reading on results day to spring into action, e.g. to enter Clearing. We'll be working hard next Thursday and will be here for you in the (unlikely) event that things do go wrong! :h:
