new year 12 in shambles 💀

i’m in a situation 😭 i want to do midwifery at uni, and to do so, most universities require an a level of psychology + another science, preferably biology. at the sixth form i’m going to, to do any sort of science a level apart from psychology, a grade 66 or higher is required. however, for my gcses i’ve done foundation combined science as if i were to do higher tier i would have achieved a 44 or 54, which wouldn’t allow me to do psychology at all, but now i can’t do a level biology which would have really helped me to do midwifery at uni. i’ve chosen psychology history and french, which i am planning on changing history to a different a level, but unsure as to which as i cannot really do a science. if anyone has any advice it’d be greatly appreciated, i apologise for how messy this is.

Most universities for midwifery will either have no subject specific requirements or require a science/ science related subject. Psychology is classed as a science subject for many of these universities.

KCL requires ABB, with a preference for science subjects (psychology included) and 5 GCSEs at grade 5 including English language, maths and science:

Manchester requires AAB if you are applying without biology or chemistry, but with psychology, and 5 GCSEs at grade 5, including English language, maths and science at grade 4 minimum:

York requires ABB including a science subject (which psychology is classed as) and a grade 4 in GCSE English language, maths and science:

Southampton requires AAB - ABB including a science subject (which psychology is classed as), GCSE English language and maths at grade 4 and science at grade 5 if not offered at level 3 (A level, BTEC etc.)

Cardiff requires ABB - BBB, GCSE English language at grade 6 (or 4 if studying higher qualifications such as A levels that are taught through the medium of English) and 4 other GCSEs at grade 4, including maths and science:

These are all top 20 ranked Russell Group universities for nursing and midwifery (not that going to a RG really matters for any healthcare profession). There are plenty of universities out there that will accept psychology alone for midwifery or don’t have any subject specific requirements at all. You have options.
