UCL civil engineering — Can I get in with bad gcse ?

Hii I’m an international student who’s going to apply for civil engineering in September.

My gcse is really bad 76665555, 7 in math and 66 in double science.

My predicted grade is A* in math, AAA in physics chemistry and music.

I don’t have any other activities like EPQ.

I really want get in to UCL, do I still have a chance?

Since when was 76665555 "really" bad? You do realise around 40% or students don't get 5 GCSEs 4 or above? There is a lot of demand for engineering and there will be a course that will accept you based on good (C and above) A-levels.

Yeah, but UCL is really competitive, so I’m just a bit worried.

I'm not aware of UCL generally scoring GCSEs for any course. They just have minimum requirements in maths and English language as far as I'm aware.

I'd be surprised if you were rejected solely on the basis of GCSEs.

And UCL is the only university because...?

Most engineering firms are more interested in you rather than where they studied. UCL is not the ultimate university.

Agreed, I'm pretty sure their minimum is 6s in English Language and Maths so if your other 6 was for English you're okay. They care more about A-Levels (probably As).

well, on the website they said a 4 in english is okay, and I got 5. And math 7 and physics 7 if not offered at a level.

Ah, if that's the grades for that course then you're probably alright. As long as your A-Levels are good, you're fine.

They ask for A*AA and I got A*AAA, do you think they actually want students to get a grade higher like A*A*A?

From what I've seen, it usually doesn't give you much of a privilege if you've got anything more than the required grades, they more or less treat you all the same as long as you have the required grades (and since you do then you have a significantly better chance of getting in than someone who doesn't have the required grades if that makes sense) - also well done on the great A-Levels!
