Need Advice on Course Switch

Hi everyone,

I'm currently in the process of switching from Diagnostic Radiography to the first year of Paramedic Science. Unfortunately, I missed the initial deadline (I believe January 31) as I decided to make the switch a month or so later after finishing my first placement, which was when I knew it wasn’t for me. As a result, I'm now in a queue behind the new applicants and have been struggling to get an update on my application status from my uni.

I’m really concerned about the possibility of my switch not being successful, especially since I don’t want to wait until next year to start. What steps can I take now to prepare in case my transfer isn’t successful?

Additionally, I’m transferring three modules (each 20 credits) that I’ve already passed from my first year in Diagnostic Radiography to Paramedic Science and have an additional 20 credits from passing a DR module. Does anyone know if this might improve my chances of securing a spot?

Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

It’s understandable to be worried about your application status, especially when you’ve already made up your mind about switching to Paramedic Science. Since you’ve missed the initial deadline, it’s good that you’re thinking ahead. First, keep trying to get updates from your university, either through emails or by calling directly. Persistence might help move things along.

If your transfer doesn’t go through, consider exploring alternative options, like applying to similar courses at other universities or looking into paramedic-related work experience or volunteering opportunities. This way, you can still gain relevant experience while waiting for the next intake.

Transferring your credits could definitely work in your favour. It shows you’ve already successfully completed modules related to healthcare, which might give you an edge. Make sure the university is aware of these credits as it could strengthen your application.

Keep pushing for updates, and have a backup plan ready just in case. Good luck with your transfer! ✌️
