Have I left it too late to change my mind?

I have been offered a conditional offer from The University of Leeds to study Law. Which I placed as my firm choice.

Newcastle University is my backup.

Due to health issues which are complicated to explain, I am starting to feel that I have made a mistake with placing Leeds as my firm choice and that I should have chosen Newcastle as my firm choice.

Hi!

This is a great question, and ultimately the answer is no, you have not left it too late to change your mind on which institution you study at! Clearing opens on Thursday, if you contact your preferred uni and let them know your situation and they have space on the course you want to study - you might have a chance to change.

Have your results at the ready and good luck!

Ignore the advice above.

Yes you have left it too late to do a straight Firm / Insurance switch. If your Firm now accepts you, your Insurance will disappear. You can try phoning Newcastle on Thursday to see if they will accept you through Clearing but NC is usually oversubscribed for Law and there may be no vacancies.

I thought as much.

Ultimately if this means I’m forced to take a year out and start all over again, then that’s what I will have to do.

Often a far better plan than scrabbling through Clearing - and you get a gap-year.
