Clearing for law

Hi guys,
As clearing and results day are coming up I have some questions and I would love you guys to help me understand.
I wanna apply throught clearing for Law. However, I havent passed my maths GCSE due to at that times I had some difficulties but I have Functional Skills in Mathematics that I passed in.
Which unis do you guys suggest? I heard some accept the functional skills one.
Thank you

Hey @Reta-308 👋

It's great to hear that you are thinking of studying Law at university!

Do you have any universities in mind at the moment?

If not, I would start by thinking of some universities that you would like to go to, factoring in location, specific modules that interest you, and anything else that is important to you. Remember - you are going to spend the next few years at this university, so it's important to find a university that's right for you, not just because it will accept you.

Consider coming up with a list of 5-10 universities if you can. Once you have this list, check out the entry requirements for each of the courses at each of the universities and see if GCSE Maths is required.

Some institutions may say that a GCSE in Maths is required, but then may allow the Functional Skills as a substitute if you contact them and speak to them directly. So if you have your heart set on any universities in particular, I would reach out to them on their clearing hotline and ask for clarification.

I hope this helps, and best of luck on results day! 💗

And you were not required to retake it alongside your A levels?

My subjects didnt require maths

All those at college/school who dont have GCSE Maths and/or English are required to retake it.
When did you complete your A levels?

Hi!

I would like to say firstly that I wish you the best in your results! I am sure it will go amazing!!

It is important to note that with each University they all have different demands for clearing but there are some important methods that you can take to secure yourself a place. As I explain I will talk in relation to the University of Kent.

Firstly, you can simply apply online for clearing in the University. Most Universities offer places with lower grade boundaries and it is greatly important that you do some research around this dependent on each university. At Kent, the grade boundaries are much lower for students typically through clearing.

The second important piece of information is that it can be very helpful to call the University to discuss your situation with Maths and your predicted grades and this can actually help you get into your desired course. This is something that is heavily done and considered at Kent and if you was interested in applying there then you most definitely should consider doing that.

In summary, make sure you apply online and call up! Have a good day. - Brandon

Studying law at university is a fantastic choice and a subject area that will open many career options for you in the future. Like USW, some universities would view your application on an individual basis. You can apply for places via Clearing. We wish you all the best with your results and your university journey☺️
