Today I was motivated to work... until it got hard. I was revising global politics (again) and it was really annoying me because I could not figure out how I wanted to structure my revision materials. I'm the type of person who loses motivation if everything is going exactly as I would like so it put me in a bit of a bad mood lol

I took a 4hr 'break' and was prepared to just give up on the day and try again tomorrow but then I watched this video by Lucy Wang about procrastination and her first point about not 'wasting days' when things don't go exactly to plan really resonated with me because I have the tendency to just give up and say I'm going to try again the next day

I didn't return to politics today (for the sake of my mental sanity) but I did do some french grammar which was always really fun and it genuinely cheered me up!
•
I did the subjunctive for regular verbs and I enjoyed finding little tricks to remembering the conjugations. The subjunctive is always something that I was always taught in phrases like il faut que je fasse etc etc without any of my teachers spending the time to show us how to really do it from scratch so this session was very helpful

didn't bother much with work today since I started my period ;-; and just wanted to chill out a bit
•
i did go through some politics flashcards (as usual) and did some french subjunctive practice
•
I got a bit bored later on and decided to do a practice MLAT paper just for fun and I found the grammar fairly easy to grasp which means my revision so far has been paying off! It's genuinely so rewarding when I remember how to do the question because of something I learnt this summer.

The translation into English was mostly alright, but I found myself getting stuck on little bits in the questions towards the end like translating all the little 'lui' and 'le' bits that they love to throw into sentences. I'm also finding that there's not as much emphasis on being super literal in your translation. You can opt for what feels most natural as long as it's reasonable, unlike in the alevel course where you do have to get creative to make the sentences make sense but it's still a lot stricter regarding certain aspects that you *need* and organising the sentences in a very particular way.
•
So far I'd say that I'm enjoying revising for the MLAT. I guess I'll take this as a sign that I should be doing French at Uni
