Medicine no offer but Waitlisted in Exeter and UCL

Hi, my daughter hasn't received an offer yet, and as results day approaches, I'm wondering if you could provide some guidance/tips. If one university, like Exeter, offers her a place first, what is the process? Will she still remain on the waitlist for UCL?

Thanks

Hi there, we have a special clearing for medicine thread which I am not able to paste a link to
but try searching up
Medicine Clearing A100 2024 to get some advice
( my view at this stage of the process would be to accept an offer, but is your daughter more keen on one medical school than another? would be surprised if UCL had spare capacity, but we'll find out tomorrow)
Best of luck to you both ☘️

thinking more about this, waitlists are not clearing ( at least not in the conventional sense even if it is the same UCAS mechanism when offered)
so has she already been interviewed by both schools?
they would hopefully give you some time tomorrow /Friday to decide on whether to accept an offer

Hello lasthope,

Hopefully your daughter would have heard from us today, considering it is results day! It may be best to check UCAS, in order to see the decision there. If you find on UCAS that your daughter does have an offer she can decide if she would like to accept it. Fingers crossed it's the news she wanted! If there is a delay and you still haven't heard anything from us it would be best to call admissions directly to check why there may be a delay!

Unfortunately, as an Exeter student myself, I am not sure about UCL as waiting lists are external to the UCAS process and require direct liason with the relevant university, so it might be best to contact their admissions too.

I hope your daughter is happy with her results/decisions today and it is the news you was hoping for!

Best wishes, Sophie, University of Exeter Student Ambassador.

such a helpful message, Sophie
do hope this mother returns here to update us both
Hi, sorry to hear that your daughter hasn't secured her place at university yet.

There are other routes into medicine that she may wish to consider. At USW, we offer a course in Medical Sciences which provides students with the qualification they need for graduate entry medicine.

We wish your daughter the very best of luck in her journey into university.

Many thanks for your response and sorry for the delay in posting a response here as last couple of days been really hectic.

My daughter got low grades ( ABB) in her A levels. She had all 9s in GCSE, so I assumed she will get the required grades and with her interview score 88( if it helps any one on the waiting list) there was a chance. I am sorry for wasting your valuable time.
Hi lasthope,
I am so sorry to hear your last couple of days have been hectic. Don't be silly about not replying, we never expect to hear back but I just wanted to say I wish her the best of luck for the future and all the success!

Best, Sophie, University of Exeter Student Ambassador.
