Pretty good, however since Oxford judges your GCSE’s based on how many 8/9 grades you have, it would be good if you have at least 8 8/9 grades minimum

thanks for the reply!
if i have 5 grade 8s, 1 grade 9, and 3 grade 7s, do you think it’s realistic to aim for oxford?
Note that biomedical science is a separate course from medicine and unrelated to it, and does not qualify you for any healthcare professions roles by itself at Oxford. I think it's important to clarify then that you are indeed referring to biomedical science, and not the medical degree?

yes, i was looking at the biomedical science (where you can finish with a degree in neuroscience) not the medicine course.

In that case I don't think it's necessarily unrealistic, although I'm less familiar with how they shortlist for biomedical sciences at Oxford. I suspect GCSEs will play a part, but at the end of the day it's at most one of your five options so as long as your other options are well balanced in terms of their requirements, you should be likely to get enough offers

It is better to rely on what Oxford says about GCSE results rather than to offer glosses on that.

"GCSEs
GCSEs will be taken into account when we consider your application but they are just one aspect that we look at. GCSE results will be considered alongside your personal statement, academic reference, predicted grades and performance in any written work or written test required for your course.
If you are shortlisted, your performance in interviews will also be taken into account. Higher grades at GCSE can help to make your application more competitive, and successful applicants typically have a high proportion of 7,8 and 9 grades. However, we do look at GCSE grades in context."

Is it also good to look at the statistics they give for what percentage of students of got an offer or got given an interview based on their gcse grades, just to give you an idea of your chances? I know they show stats for medicine but not sure about bio med.

That might generate needless anxiety. Every candidate is assessed individually. Admission to Oxford is not a number-crunching exercise. To obtain an offer, you have to be a good all-round candidate. GCSE results are just one part of the picture.

U definitely have a chance but since its oxford don’t be surprised if u get rejected as they look at the small details such as gcse grades
