Extra-Curricular

I've made a post like this before, but now i'm starting to have different ideas on my future career.
I'm planning to go into Biochemistry at University, and I was just wondering what Extra/Super-curricular Things i could do for it.

I've already starting looking into things like the Intermediate Biology Olympiad and the Gold Crest, would these be good things to do?
I'm also thinking of doing some work experience to look into potential future careers, im looking into my local pharmacys, would this also be able to lead into a Lab based pharmacy work experience? I'm also looking into shadowing a dietitian at my local hospital. What other career work experiences could i try? I really want to have a broad experience, so I can figure out what I enjoy.

You could read books that are listed on some university’s reading list. Eg here is Oxford’s reading list:

As for work experience, looking into local pharmacies is very good. You could also do some virtual work experience on springpod as well:

Biology Olympiads etc are really not that impressive - everyone does them, so they dont say anything special about you.

Your PS need to explain why you want to study Biosciences at degree level - you need evidence/examples of how you are moving beyond the A level syllabus, with some interesting topics within Biology to discuss as examples of this.

List of suggested readings etc from Oxford - good for all Unis -
