I need advice about completing A-levels as a private candidate

To give some background this year, I had to repeat year 13 since I had to take a break half way through because of mental health issues, there were a lot of problems on top of that, the school advised me to redo yr 13 but there was no geography class for this year so I had to get a tutor and by the end of it I was told that the geography teacher was working part time so she wouldn't mark my coursework a month or two before alevels even though I was told she would mark it, the school had a new head teacher too which caused some problems for me and my health got worse so I think sitting my exams would have been difficult anyways. I'd get panic attacks going into school so I've decided to sit my alevels privately at an exam centre for 2025.

One of my subjects was geography and I've already gone on the trip for the NEA and have written it but it's looking like I'd have to go on the trip again with the one exam centre in London who even does geography with the NEA which would cost a lot of money. I'm asking if there's anyway for me to get my nea marked or start over without having to go on the trip since I've already gone.
I also wanted to ask how difficult switching to the Cambridge IAL from edexcel would be since that doesn't have coursework and if thats even allowed for someone who lives in England to do so and whether any unis would look at that weirdly.
Sorry you've not had any responses about this. :frown: Are you sure you've posted in the right place? Here's a link to our subject forum which should help get you more responses if you post there.

I can't answer specifically for Geography as I'm not familiar with the topics on each, however international A levels (either Cambridge or Edexcel) are often taken by pupils who can't do coursework for some reason (eg. home schooled or people in similar situations to you), unis won't look at it weirdly and you'd be fine to sit them if you can find somewhere here offering them so you don't have to worry about that
Whether the specifications are similar enough is a different question unfortunately, you could have a look at the specification and see how much overlap there is before you commit to anything
I think you can carry forward your NEA if I am not mistake for exam boards such as AQA, Edexcel and I presume others. That might help?
