Moving to Australia in the middle of year 12

Hi, I'm currently waiting for my gcse results and I will start my alevels following September. However, my parents have already decided to move to Australia, probably next year august which will be in the middle of my year 12 at sixth form. I basically have no idea abt the Australian education system apart from the fact that high ends at year 12 for them. Can anyone please explain what I could do with my gcses and/or what educational pathway do I go? For example can I apply for uni there since I hv gcses and a year in 12????

Hi, we did the move the other way around though. Basically you will have to take your HSC - you need an ATAR or equiv to get into ATAR and you can only get that with A'level exam results or with HSC results as far as I know. What did you study for a'levels - they tend to do maths right up to leaving school, and take more subjects than we do in the Uk. Where are you going to move to? You will love it and it will all work out, so definitely don't worry!

It can differ slightly between states in terms of the exams/qualifications- for example in Victoria you would take your VCE’s in year 12. I’ve known of people that move after first year of A levels and then start year 12 again in Aus. I’ve also known people who’ve stayed back in the UK to complete A levels then move - whilst they tend to do more subjects the content isn’t as in depth. What A levels are you considering? I’m in a expat online group still from when we moved to Aus (now back in UK) so I’ll have a search on recent posts see what else I can find that may help

If you want to continue with a UK education you could potentially also complete your A-levels instead...? I know that the British Council offers the A-levels in Australia. They offer less subjects though
