what if i didnt get into one of my subject choices

Hi, I’m supposed to be doing chemistry A-Level but I’m really doubting that i got a 6 (the minimum requirement) even though I do usually get 6 in mocks. If I got a 5, do you think I might be allowed to pursue chemistry? If it helps, I know i did quite well in maths and got around a 7-8 and also physics im quite confident i got around a 7-8. Thanks
Wait until you have your results. If your sixth requires a 6 in chem and you dont get the grade then they might be unlikely to let you study the course. A 6 is pretty standard as an entry requirement for a level so are you sure you could cope with the course if you dont think you have gotten the 6? If on results day you haven’t got the 6 in chem then contact your sixth form and see if they will enrol you despite your lower grade. In the meantime consider what other subject you could do if you dont get into the chemistry course, can provide advice on this if you need it. Hope this helps and have a great day

I would consider other subjects you'd be okay with doing before results day, just in case. I don't do any science subjects but I know they're really difficult from friends experiences, so you may struggle with chemistry, especially if you didn't get the required grade. However, that being said, I was allowed to study A Level Law despite not getting the entry grade (6 in Eng Lang) as I was 1 mark off a 6 and my other results were mainly 7s, so they might let you in if you're really close. But yeah, consider other options you might like! If you're looking to go into sciences, look at maths, bio, physics, psychology, environmental science, further maths, cs etc probably. If not specifically looking at sciences, just choose one that you think you'd enjoy - you can always change it for the first 3 ish weeks. Good luck with results day!!)

Alright thank you for this! The reason i wanna do chemistry is because im looking towards doing optometry in uni, but i didnt really decide this until recently and i was pretty unmotivated before. the unis say you need two sciences/maths and as im doing bio alevel my only other option is physics or maths but i really would not like to do either of those because im not the best at maths and physics sounds like hell. However if i dont get into chemistry i will probably have to choose physics ://

There’s a couple of optometry degrees which will take psychology or applied science alongside bio but not enough that you wouldn’t be limiting your options by not taking two core sciences. Have you researched optometry and are sure that its what you want to do? If you’re sure then unfortunately taking physics if you dont get into chem will be the best option. Best of luck for results day!
