Best Cheap Car Insurance For Young Drivers Without a Black Box? How much do you pay?

Currently trying to get a cheap UK non black box policy. Looking to see the cheapest people have got and who they were with. Any recommendations?

You won't get much useful info mate, it just varies far too much by circumstance, age, location, occupation, licence details, car you want etc

My insurance is about £600 this year but I'm older with more history and a stupider car (Insurance group 42)

For me it £900 in 2023 for a first car. Full comprehensive with business.

I think Tesco covered me for about £800 as a (not young) newbie. I then got about £100 back via quidco so it’s worth checking cashback sites to see if there’s any decent offers.

As above, everything else is very case by case. My usual provider wanted another £300 this year (likely due to a claim in the area) but switching to my bank actually saved me money.

The cheapest cars to insure I've tried which I got offered a no black box policy on have been the Citroen C1, C2, Fiat Panda and Daihatsu charade. From what I had found a good base is to stick to sub 1.4l, sub 85bhp cars that have been through a EURONCAP of sorts (rating doesn't really matter), and avoid Ford and Vauxhall. also having someone else be policy holder seems to give me more luck with not needing a black box, although make sure to still put yourself as main driver and car owner to avoid inadvertently fronting, which is insurance fraud.
