EPQ Help

Hello,

I’m starting Year 12 in September, which is when my school starts its EPQ program.

I already know I will be doing it, but I have heard it is pretty time consuming.

Is there anything I can do this summer to get a head start to limit the work needed when I go back to school?

I haven’t been told anything about the EPQ guidelines, rules or structure etc. for what to pick and how to do it, how can I find this?

I’m also looking to combine law with football, so any suggestions for what to do it on would be great.

Thanks.

Hi,

I’d just brainstorm and try to pick your topic and then try to figure out what you’d write about on that topic. For combining law and football you could possibly do how changing laws have impacted football? Or possibly a sort of case study into an example of a footballer breaking the law?

You could then try to find some resources you might be able to use for research. I wouldn’t go to far/in depth with research if you aren't sure of what kind of sources you need to look for/how you need to record references etc. as you don't want to waste your time (I've just made a list of potential sources for mine).

To find more specific information of the guidelines and what you need to do, find the specification for EPQ online and read through it.

Hope this helped a little:smile:

Hi, this summer what I would do is do some wider reading and just get some ideas of what you want to do for your EPQ. Maybe save any YouTube videos or podcasts on related topics into a playlist so you can watch these later. Don’t be worried if you have no idea what to do so far- I didn’t finalize my topic until around February/March time and went through around 4 title changes.

Do read the following document by the Uni of York for a structure and overview of EPQ. Also read your exam board spec for the fine details.

I would also recommend trying out Future Learn’s EPQ head start course by the Uni of Bath
