London Uni Train Commute Advice

Hi,
I’m hoping to study at uni in London in September and am looking into travel stuff. I was wondering if a 16-25 railcard can be paired to an oyster (and if to get the 18+ student oyster) for overground travel discounts. As I will be commuting from outside London and won’t really be using the underground as frequently as I will the overground.

I was wondering if any past of current uni students in London who commuted into London have any advice on the most cost effective way to travel?

Thanks

Hi @ET177445

Yes it can. I've done mine and tap in and out on my Oyster card when I'm in London. You basically take your railcard and your Oyster card to one of the TFL officials in the Tube entrance hall. They take you to a ticket machine and then add your railcard onto your Oyster.

From the TFL website "Get a 16-25 Railcard or 26-30 Railcard and add it to your 18+ Student Oyster photocard, or standard adult Oyster card to get 34% off pay as you go off-peak fares and daily caps for:

Tube

London Overground

Elizabeth line

most National Rail services in London

Travel off-peak. "
