Does this course currently hold accreditation by the ICE?

I cannot find any courses linked to University of Roehampton on either the engineering councils course checker or with the ICE accreditation checker?

(For anyone interested in pursuing a career in engineering & looking to study in the UK, I strongly recommend only attending an undergraduate course which has been recognised by one of the engineering council member institutions such as the Institution of Civil Engineers)

Hi @mnot,

Thank you for your question.

Civil Engineering programmes are validated by the Joint Board of Moderators (JBM) who represent the the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). Our programme is designed to comply with JBM requirements and has been designed by specialist external consultants who represent the JBM. Due to our programme being new for 2024, it is not possible to get full validation by the JBM until we have had one complete cohort complete the course, so we will not be able to achieve this for another three years. This is normal practice and all the other Civil Engineering programmes would've gone through the same process.

In seeking validation with the JBM, we will ensure that this validation includes those students who are going to join the course now and for the next two years, so that when they graduate, they will be recognised by the professional institutions.

If you have any other questions, I am happy to answer them.

Thank you,

Katie- Roehampton Rep
