Accommodation tips

Hii
I will be starting my uni in sept at University of Leeds. However, I am rlly confused because kf the accommodation. What type of accommodation should I go for? I have heard mixed reviews!
If anyone can give any suggestion about what kind of accommodation is good and any leads would be appreciated (a budget friendly)

My general advice would always be to go for a non-ensuite (because it's loads cheaper) with the biggest kitchen possible.
You can find lots of helpful information in the two threads "sticky" at the top of this page: student accommodation
My tip for any shared accommodation is try and move in first and get the top of the fridge as your shelf!

From experience, there is nothing worse than having messy roommates who let their stuff leak all over your stuff!!!

May I ask if you had Leeds as your firm choice? In which case the deadline for applying was 1 July.

Hi Airah,
I would definitely determine what your budget is and what your priorities are when it comes to your new room. For instance, whether you want to live in a more sociable environment or have a self contained studio flat with your own kitchen facilities, whether an en-suite is a must or you are happy with a shared bathroom. Also things like location and distance to uni is something you may want to factor in.

We don't have any accommodation in Leeds, however you can read more about the differences between en-suite and studio over on our blog which may help! https://www.studentroost.co.uk/blog/shared-student-accommodation-vs-studios-which-ones-for-you?utm_source=The_Student_Room&utm_medium=Blog&utm_campaign=MTAR2425&utm_content=Moving_Out

Wishing you the best of luck in finding your accommodation!

Hi @Airah Lateef!

Congratulations on getting into uni!

There are a few things to consider when choosing accommodation such as do you want en-suite? I went for en-suites even though they are more pricey but I personally didn't want to share my bathroom with anyone.

I would also look at any videos of the accommodation, if there are any and read reviews to be sure you have made the right decision. How many people are you willing to share with? That's also an important question to ask yourself. Where possible, I went for the smaller accommodations so I wasn't sharing with more than 5/6 people.

I would also look into what is around the accommodation, do you want a quiet one or a more lively one closer to the centre. Start with a list of what you want from your accommodation and then research into them, before booking anything.

Hope this helps even a little bit 😊

If you had a conditional offer they won't guarantee you accom though unless you applied before 1 July. If you got a place through Clearing you have more time though
