Gap year medicine PS

I am going on a gap year after 4 med rejections and will be reapplying to med for 2025 entry. For the people who also are reapplying to med, how different was your first med personal statement compared to the second?

I'm scared of rewriting the same stuff as my work experience in my second personal statement since I know there's a plagiarism checker but I havent been able to get new work experience.

You cannot plagiarise yourself, so don't worry about that. Most people will have done something in the year between applications that warrants an entry on their PS, but if it is broadly the same as last year, it will not flag for plagiarism

this being said, make sure to use the same email+UCAS ID when reapplying otherwise it will be flagged as plagiarism. There’s more of this on the UCAS website

They will link your 2 accounts, or you can ask them to, but yes, easiest to use the same email account

If applying strategically, then your strategic choices may be different, depending whether you have achieved grades or not, or a higher/lower UCAT.

If your strategic choices are different the things your new med school choices want to see may be different. So it could be the same info but tailored/presented differently.

They may also like to see a brief line about how using gap year. But don't waste too many words on it unless timely / relevant.

Many med schools don't look at PS when selecting for interview, but some really do.
Read their policies to see.
