Stressing and overthinking too much

Ever since I started my A levels I've been stressing and overthinking so much because my grades took such a big hit. I went from 8's at GCSE to D's and E's. I've worked hard all year but my grades haven't improved. To be honest, I did get 5's and 6's throughout high school and pulled 7's and 8's out of nowhere at the end so who knows I might get my grades up but it's just that I've been putting the effort in and my grades aren't improving. What makes it worse is that I keep on getting told A levels are nothing like GCSE's so I am probably cooked not to mention the fact that people in my class get A's and B's without trying. Maybe I've just let college get to my head, I mean I've even been miserably revising over the summer and just wasted my holidays essentially. Idk but I've just been so stressed all year and I overthink EVERYTHING now and have become pretty miserable and pessimistic icl.
Any chance you’re overworked and burnt out? Just a thought. Im not an a level student but from an outsiders perspective it seems like you’re putting a lot of effort in put you’ve said its not really paying off. Maybe you could try some new revision techniques and try and take breaks so you can focus better 🙂 . I hope things get better for you and your hard work pays off! Have an awesome day!

Oh I never really thought of that. You’re probably right. I’ll just take it easy for the remaining time of the holidays and get back to revising once college starts  thanks

This sounds tough, I'm sorry to hear you're feeling stressed. I can completely relate to the GCSEs to A-Levels experience as I also saw my grades dip between the levels and it was very disheartening, especially when you've been putting in the effort🧡

The 'Will I be ready for the next academic level?' and 'Wishing this wasn't happening' articles on Student Space touch on these topics, so you may find those helpful.

Dude, I totally get you.
I study in an Elite school; all my classmates, my seniors, my juniors are geniuses.
But I got 2As, 3Bs, 3Cs. And the most surprising fact is that I actually have the capabilities of getting 10A*s! (Family problems are very scary).
Since I was also a genius (more like fallen genius rn), my parents have VERY high expectations, uk.
Anyways, currently all d€pr€ssed, lonely, can't focus, can't sleep, nothing.
Today, I had a mock (mechanics), I didn't answer a 15 marks worth question!
I never happened to me, uk.
But now that I'm looking back (it's been 2 hours but whatever), I feel like I'm not being able to focus is because I'm dead *ss scared about the grades I'll receive.
Relax yourself first, eat sth, or splash water in your eyes (even better, take a bath) and then study. Make sure you don't get the worry of grades in your head. It's gonna distract you.

Thanks for the advice. A lot of people have been telling me the same thing so that’s why I’ve decided to take the rest of the summer holidays to relax. Hopefully I have a better start in September
