Laptop recommendation for Master of Architecture program

Hey there! I'm an aspiring international student joining the M.Arch program in 2024 at the University of Salford. I could really use some advice on getting a laptop for the program in the price range of £800-900. What software is typically used for studio projects at Salford? Any tips or recommendations would be amazing! I've also been wondering when they usually send out the Studio Guide. I've searched the university website but couldn't find any information about it. I also reached out to the course leader, but unfortunately, I haven't heard back yet. Any insights you have would be greatly appreciated!

Hello,

Firstly, great question! It is great to look ahead and get prepared for the start of your university journey.

However, I would say this is something you do not need to worry about too much. Most laptops between that price range should be more than enough for what you would need it for.

All the specialist software that you would need for the course, you will have access for when logging into computers on campus. In terms of what software is used, that would be a good one for the course leader to answer, apologies if they have not got round to you yet it is a busy time of year for the university with results day and clearing going on 🤣.

I can only imagine with the studio guide that you will find out more information about this once the programme has commenced and teaching has started.

I do hope this helps.

Hi! Thank you so much for the helpful answers! 😊I have one more question: how many days a week are classes typically held for this MARCH program?

Hello,

You will get your official timetable closer to the start of your teaching, but you can check rough copies of the course timetables at tt.salford.ac.uk but they may be subject to change.

Thanks
