Hey there! I study psychology at the uni of Surrey, so this question is perfect for me to answer.
I was in a very similar situation to you last year, and I got into the course through clearing. Turns out it was a blessing in disguise. The course content is very varied and interesting, and the lecturers are excellent (especially the one for statistics; he is a master). The course is obviously very popular so there will always be many diverse people you can meet just from inside it. It's not just sitting and taking notes either; the uni has a unique system where you can participate in actual studies, even extending to an MRI machine! A lot of studies we participate in contributes to coursework as well. Guildford is also a really nice place to live in.
This is just some of the stuff that comes to mind, but overall I've had no issues and really enjoyed the course at Surrey. I definitely think it's a great option for your plan B.

Thank you so much for your reply, it seems like a good uni! If it was closer to where I live, it would've been an easier decision because I'll be commuting everyday. I just hope that wherever I end up is the right place for me.😭

Why not see if they have space in halls?

If you live near enough to commute then you can still go home at the weekends but you’ll save a lot of commuting costs and get a larger maintenance loan if you move out of home. (Plus you would have hours of time back during the week that you could use to work and earn money)

I’ll have that in mind thank you!

Hello! I’m just finishing my MSc in Psychology at Surrey, and I’ve had a wonderful experience. I also did my UG here but in languages.

The department is really friendly and supportive. They offer great resources, like an extended reality facility and great placement opportunities. I was part of the Brain and Behaviour Lab (focusing and gut-brain axis) and even used EEG for my dissertation, which was an amazing experience. Plus, the course is BPS accredited, so it's helpful if you want to pursue psychology 😊

The campus is beautiful with a real community feel, and there’s a lovely lake right on campus. There are lots of clubs and societies to get involved in - you can check them out here: https://surreyunion.org/activity/clubs-societies/

You’ll also have a personal tutor and access to lots of wellbeing support. If you want to know more about the wellbeing services, you can find info here: https://wellbeing.surrey.ac.uk

I hope you enjoy wherever you end up!

Many thanks,
