connecting w students

hi everyone, im gonna be attending university of manchester and i wanted to know the best way to get to know students beforehand? i dont really know others attending and would love to get familiar w at least a few people before i go!!

I'm not attending the University of Manchester nor am I an incoming student but just thought I would give you some advice.
If you look on Facebook and search something like "University of Manchester Freshers 2024-2025" you will find several different groups. You may find there are some spam accounts and bots but usually people will post and say a few things about themselves and if you see someone you think would be someone you would be friends with you can drop them a message or comment on their post! Here's an example: (1) University of Manchester Freshers 2024 - 2025 | Facebook. You will also find similar on Tiktok and Instagram and through these you can be added to group chats!
I know you want to make friends before you go but please don't worry if you don't. You will make a lot of friends during freshers week and the first week of term so please don't worry. By joining in and attending everything on offer you will make friends automatically plus by joining clubs and societies you will meet likeminded people with similar interests. If you're living in halls, then you will find that you will make friends with people in your flat and with people in your block. You will make friends on your course too just by sitting with them in lectures!
