I'm going into year 13 too with predicted AAB. My advice would be don't apply to 5 competitive, good unis with high grades. I'm doing 2 AAB, 1 ABB, 1 BBB and 1 based off tariff points. Use unifrog to guide you. My school suggests applying to 2 aspirational, 2 solid and 1 safe. Hope this helps!

Changing to what? Once you have your predicted grades you can gain a better idea of where you should apply. Are you eligible for contextual offers at any of these universities?

The non-contextual entry requirements for computer science at Manchester are A*A*A, including an A* in maths and an A/A* in another science subject. If you were to apply there with grades below the entry requirements, at most you might be able to get away with A*AA, as it is a fairly competitive course. Birmingham requires A*AA with an A in maths for non-contextual applicants. Again, you may be able to get away with having grades slightly below the requirements (ideally above AAB), but you have to be realistic with your choices. If you’re going to be aspirational with your choices, you may want to apply to one or maybe two courses with grades slightly above your predicted grades (e.g. one grade above), but trying to obtain an offer from a university that requires A*AA with Bs and Cs predicted is unrealistic. Depending on your predicted grades and whether you qualify for contextual offers, Leeds could be a good option, but you would need ABB for a contextual offer and AAA for the standard requirements. You can check if you qualify for a contextual offer by looking through the Access to Leeds criteria:

Good morning,

I hope you are well.

You can take a look at our course information for Computer Science on our webpage here - https://le.ac.uk/courses/computer-science-bsc/2024 where you will also be able to submit a course enquiry and have your questions answered by our academic colleagues 🙂

Best Wishes,
