I expect too much
I'm worried incase I expect too much from my partner, I'm a big overthinker and hopeless romantic. I love getting flowers, love letters, random messages throughout the day, stuff like that. I was quite upset with my birthday present I got (things that weren't really important to me, not much thought put into it) and I was sort of hoping for the same energy back that I put into his present. I have a job and he doesn't, so I'm usually (90%) the one paying for stuff when we go out. We've only been dating for a few months, but I feel like It's a 65/35 right now. Any advice?

Well it seems like you're pulling the weight in the relationship. I don't think you're expecting too much; I think he isn't giving enough. If you're truly doing all of this for him and he can't put a bit of thought into a birthday present then it seems like he doesn't care as much. This is a big assumption I've made based off a small bit of information so don't take it as gospel. If he doesn't have a job but is actively (which I am hoping he is) trying then fair enough, you're going to have to pay but if he can't support you financially then at least he should show some other forms of commitment.

If you're at the stage of calling someone your 'partner' you must be quite committed, so didn't you know this when you were dating? Have this conversation with them!
